TRINALUNA IS A CELTIC-IRISH MUSIC GROUP FORMED IN 2021 IN PERUGIA
The group was born from the desire of cellist and singer Minna Pehkonen and flutist Marco Margiotta to create a group focused on the repertoire of traditional Irish music.
While attending the “Francesco Morlacchi” Conservatory in Perugia, the two met classical guitarist Federico Pedini and violinist Sayako Obori, who shared their passion for the traditional melodies of Northern Europe and Ireland. They invited them to join the group.
The initial lineup, consisting of flute, violin, guitar, cello, and vocals, began performing their first concerts in Umbria during the winter of 2021. The band’s debut repertoire included some classic Irish pieces and traditional Finnish folk songs, both sung and instrumental.
After achieving early success in Perugia, Trinaluna participated in the European Celtic Festival in Montelago in 2021. The group was selected for the semi-finals and performed a concert at *.
The following year, the group began performing regularly in Umbria, Marche, and Lazio.
In 2022, flutist Marco Margiotta left the group.
The remaining members decided to rebuild the project, incorporating a proper rhythm section.
Over the course of the year, the current lineup of Trinaluna took shape, featuring Ruggero Bonucci on bass and double bass, Giovanni Petrini on flute, and Rocco Panzanelli on drums and vocals.
In the summer of 2023, the group increased its concert activity and ultimately participated once again in the European Celtic Festival in Montelago.
In November 2023, the group gave an interview for the program “Parliamo di…musica” on Rai Umbria.
Trinaluna’s music represents the convergence of different musical styles.
The band members come from an international background and have graduated from diverse musical disciplines.
Without sacrificing the essence of Nordic musical tradition, Trinaluna seeks to channel the elegance of classical music and the rhythmic energy of funk and jazz into its compositions, aiming to tell forgotten stories and evoke distant places.
Currently, the group performs regularly throughout Italy.
